H Moser & Cie Perpetual Calendar  1 Comments

Every so often a watch comes along to inspire me to create more interesting ways to present it. The MB&F HM4 was one such watch and again, just this week the Moser Perpetual Calendar. While this watch is not new - first shown here in 2006 when the prototype was brought here - due to production issues, the Perpetual Calendar started to only ship recently. This beautiful piece belongs to a gentleman collector friend of mine who knew of my desire to re-photograph this rare and aesthetically pleasing perpetual calendar.

Unlike any other mechanical perpetual calendar ever produced, the Moser has a clean dial free of sub dials showing month or year. The small hands at the centre axis points to the numbers that represent the months and its only on the exhibition movement back does one know whether its a leap year or standard year. The date window shows off the date much larger than the usual windows making it easy on the eye. Even the 7 day power reserve indicator on the left does not seem to clutter the dial in any way.
