This handsome IWC Portuguese Minute Repeater features white gold case with grey slate dial. This is a relatively new combination of a model that has been around for a few decades. Featuring the renowned and stable Caliber 95 (seconds dial at 9) with the repeater module added on. Collectors who prefer austere dials will find this piece endearing although the model may put collectors off with the street price which is in the vicinity of S$100K (however, due to the complexity of minute repeaters, new pieces today are now retailing at much higher prices).
This recording was made at the Hour Glass premises which unfortunately also picked up ambient sounds in the shop notwithstanding the use of an external microphone. Do note that the sound is amplified by the microphone and that repeaters generally do not chime at this volume.
You will hear three distinct type of chimes. The first set will represent the hours (11), the second represent the quarter (3 double chimes reflecting that the time is after 45minutes) and the third single chime will count the minutes (10 minutes after 45). Hence it tells the time by sounds - 11.55.
(my thanks to Hour Glass Millennia for allowing me to record this video on their premises)
