Chinese New Year gathering of collectors - with a theme  0 Comments

Collectors never really need a reason for a gathering but Chinese New Year celebrations is always a popular time of the year to meet up and have a feast. Its very much the culture here in our region.

This time round, so soon after the post Christmas gathering, it was suggested that we gathered this time to enjoy a renowned Chinese restaurant called Restaurant Ten. We reserved seating for 30 and everyone truly enjoyed the unusual culinary offerings. Well worth revisiting again.

At this gathering, it was also suggested that anyone who owned a Portuguese Jubilee to bring along as one of the collectors had just taken delivery of a piece purchased direct from a Swiss dealer. To our surprise, we have in a group of 30 collectors, three rose gold Jubilees and two steel versions.  There were other Portugueses as well but as the table photograph shows, the taste of collectors is truly varied. Close study of the image above (Click to view large version) will show that Seiko and Rolex are the next predominant brands. Also seen are some very rare and truly special timepieces as well. See if you can identify them!
