Four Portuguese Jubilees (IWC Ref. 5441)  1 Comments

Here is a group photograph taken at the Portuguese collectors gathering reported below. These two red gold and two stainless steel versions of the Limited Edition Portuguese Jubilees were launched by IWC back in 1993. The Jubilee came in three versions - platinum (250 pcs), rose gold (500 pcs) and stainless steel (1000 pcs).
All four watches as with other Jubilees around the world are in excellent condition and have seen unusually high level of prices at international watch auctions. Many IWC collectors have described the Portuguese Jubilee pieces as the crowning jewel of their watch collection which explains why so few of these watches ever return to the market and if so, would not be there for long.
For those who had not been successful in finding a Portuguese Jubilee there is the new red gold Vintage Portuguese which was just released at SIHH 2009. A gold version of the white dialed platinum version, I think the RG version is going to be a winner going by the quality of materials and design of the current Vintage line. The only problem I foresee is the premium price (expect list price at S$30K) for non limited edition (albeit the numbers expected to be produced each year would be small). More about that new watch later.
