BASEL 2006: OPUS 6 from Harry Winston  0 Comments

The Harry Winston Opus series has always been exciting releases at the Basel Exhibition - which is happening now as I write. Previous collaborators with HW were F-P Journe, A. Prezusio, Vianney Halter, C. Claret, and last year with F. Baumgartner. This time its a Franco/British team of Greubel Forsey. The Opus 6 is a massive white gold case which contains a double tourbillon set at an angle of 30 degrees. There are no hands and the time is told by reading the 3 small discs at the top of the watch, displaying the seconds, minutes and hours (reading left to right).

I personally applaud the creative efforts here to come up with something authentically new and aesthetically different. Yet, I cannot help to notice that there is some similarity with the design of the AP reported below. I know many will disagree but at least not all the new designs will be apeing the psuedo skeleton of the Breguet Tradition (see report below).
