With Tempus coming up in less than 7 days, this post of a WMV file of the set of Tempus U1 images is a test to see if video podcasting will work on my blog. Hope you enjoy this production.

Its with great pleasure for me to share with you quality images of the new Sinn U1 Tempus ALL BLACK. A deep sea diver's watch rated at 1000meters with black submarine steel resistant to corrosion and tegimented against scratches and markings. Apart from the black submarine steel, this watch is identical to the original U1 in every manner.

The Tempus Limited Edition is limited to only 250 (although they are not numbered) but I have been informed that all of them have been spoken for. Deliveries will arrive in small batches and for a few fortunate collectors before the Tempus event itself.

Check out my photomontage of the Sinn U1 Tempus here. Leave a comment if you can of what you think of this watch.

With much anticipation since the day I placed an order, the very first Tempus U1 Limited Edition has arrived in Singapore (see this post for an idea what this watch looks like).
With only one piece arriving before the Tempus Event, Mr Michael Tay, the MD of HourGlass, kindly called me up to let me know that he is making good on his promise to let me have the very first piece when it arrives. Michael described the piece as stunning and I believe him. In a few short hours when I should have this watch in my hands and I will post some initial shots of the watch on delivery and hopefully I can follow up with some quality images shortly after as there is a great interest in this timepiece from all over the world.
So come back soon and I am sure you will not be disappointed!

POSTSCRIPT - I collected the Tempus U1 this evening at 7pm and this watch has put a smile on my face. Its just s t u n n i n g.
For those who also ordered a piece in faith of how the watch will look like, you will not be disappointed. For those who wanted one and did not place an order, unfortunately you will be regretting that choice.
I had very high expectations for this watch and to my great surprise, it surpassed them. To me now having the watch in my hand, I easily would vote this watch as one of the Watches of the Year 2007.
My good friend Mr Su Jia Xian had joined me to record and photograph for posterity the opening of the watch and he shall be shortly publishing the initial images of the Tempus U1 including the watch on my wrist on ThePurists.com and it will be cross posted here shortly.
I expect to publish my personal report of the watch and montage this weekend - so keep an eye out for it!

The Annual Business Times Watch Supplement was published today - 24th August and its even bigger than ever. Larry Wee the editor in charge of this wonderful supplement has gathered a series of wonderful articles reporting about the latest happenings in the watch world. If you are unable to get hold of a copy, you are not alone as the watch supplement edition of the BT has always been a sell out. Nevertheless, you can still read the wonderful reports in the supplement at the paper's webpages found here: The Business of Time. (Do note however, that the site is a subscription site but free access is available after 6pm or 1000 GMT).

I am also pleased to say that the BT Watch Supplement published a full length article by me on how to photograph watches effectively with point and shoot cameras. The article can be viewed here - In Focus . If that link does not work, you can download the pdf version How to Photograph Watches.

It's Singapore's 42nd National Day - 9th August 1965 was our independence day from the English colonials. With a nice break from work, I managed to find an hour to finish off the production and publishing of this photomontage of a watch that has seem to stir the excitement amongst Omega fans.

The HourVision in my estimation is a potential icon for Omega in its search for new status in the watch world. In this montage I feature both the pink gold and steel versions. Both are stunning time pieces, classical yet new with its transparent walled case. The pink gold version is especially handsome on the wrist, having all the attributes to be a well loved time piece for anyone - even those who would want only one watch. The new movement is well finished and with its open back, will entertain even the most hard core horologists.

A brand new white gold Horological Machine No.1 (also belonging to Dr Bernard Cheong whose Opus V was featured below) arrived this weekend and despite my very tight schedule, I managed to squeeze in a couple of hours to photograph it and process the unveiling of this grand timepiece.
I also managed to put together the cover shot shown above but the processing of the detailed images for its montage will have to wait for some weeks until I get past the heavy workload I face the weeks ahead (but I will endeavour to continue posting when I can). Feel free to download the image above as its sized to be a desktop wallpaper.
To view how the watch was delivered, check out the report HERE.
POSTSCRIPT - On Tuesday 7th August, Dr Bernard Cheong threw a party to celebrate the arrival of the HM1 at the newly opened swanky club Thumper at Goodwood Park Hotel. I was asked to cover the event and Su Jia Xian posted the report. Have a look at the party to see how the watch looks like on the wrist of the owner and how it was the highlight of the party. I recently photographed a gentleman's collection of these two newly released commemorative watches of the famous timepiece that was worn on the moon. I am a fan of the original Speedmaster and its history. I was sceptical of this new commemorative until I saw it in the metal. While the patch model (the crested model) has the same dial material as the standard, the 50th Anniversary's dial is made of beautifully finished enamel. The movement is also beautifully finished with an exhibition back. This watch comes in a huge and beautifully finished wooden box filled with tools a loupe and spares.
Click the images above to see the large versions. Detailed images will be featured later after they are published in local watch magazines.

The platinum Harry Winston Opus V is a monumental watch - in design, size and weight - which will in time be an all time classic of avante garde watches. This watch I photographed belong to a renowned collector and moderator of Harry Winston Forum - Dr Bernard Cheong. It was a challenging watch to photograph because of its lack of contrast being platinum and with grey metal dial. Notwithstanding, one cannot be unimpressed with this watch. The unique dial with hour numbers found on three dimensional cubes. The crown is protected with a lever operated cover which reminded me of supercars like Ferrari. Have a look at the images and consider for yourself whether this is indeed the supercar of the watch world.

I just managed to photograph a new arrival to Singapore - the White Gold MBF Horological Machine No.1 belonging to Dr Bernard Cheong.

I hope to have the series of images of the watch processed and published within the next few weeks. Unfortunately for me university term is just about to begin and time will once again become very scarce and precious. So, I hope you will be patient - and come back regularly to check for this. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

In the meantime, if you have not seen my first report on the MBF HM1 last year of the working prototype in Pink Gold, have a look here - MBF No.1 Pink Gold
